We would like to introduce our type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) and type 630 rings (1.4542 rings) manufactured by centrifugal casting technique again in this article.
Type 630 is 17-4PH (CB7Cu-1, 1.4542, X5CrNiCuNb16-4) actually and we say type 630 instead of 17-4PH more often in Taiwan. Lots of customers inquired us “ The type 630 tubes are 17-4PH tubes?” “630 means 17-4PH?” The answer is “ Yes!”

Type 630(17-4PH) is the precipitation hardening stainless steel. Type 630 stainless steel is not used often in Taiwan, however there are a lot of applications using type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) or type 630 rings (1.4542 rings) in U.S.A. and Europe.
Fifteen years ago, we started to manufacture the type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) and type 630 rings (1.4542 rings) by centrifugal casting technique for oil and gas industry. At that time, the customer asked as to produce the type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) and type 630 rings (1.4542 rings) by centrifugal casting based on forging specification and asked us to meet the standards that are higher than the ones on forging specification ASTM A564 Type 630 H1150. A good news was our centrifugally cast type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) and type 630 rings (1.4542 rings) were approved and met the forging specification no matter which third party did the inspection.
Therefore, type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) manufactured by centrifugal casting could be regarded as our top material.

In the previous paragraph, we mentioned that type 630 stainless steel is the common material in the industries of U.S.A. and Europe. However, it is not used often in Taiwan. Thus, we did the comparison between type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) and 316 tubes manufactured by centrifugal casting on the table below.
From the table, the strength and hardness of type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) are far higher than 316 tubes. And the proportions of Cr and Ni are high of both chemical compositions, thus the corrosion resistance of type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) and 316 tubes are good. For applications, type 630 tubes (1.4542 tubes) are used as key blank material of the highly valuable components in oil & gas, aerospace and green energy industries. However, the 316 tubes are applied in the environment for resisting corrosion resistance a lot.
