Approaching the end of 2023, LAWAI is still working hard to produce the butterfly valve seat retainer with different specifications for our European customers in order to make them receive the retainers before the Christmas holidays. 

You might ask what kind of the butterfly valves used in what environment would be equipped with the metal valve seat retainers manufactured by centrifugal casting technique at LAWAI?

The butterfly valve seat retainers manufactured by us are used for high performance butterfly valves.  The valves are applied in extreme conditions including chemical, LPG/LEG, oil, sea water systems mainly.  Therefore, the materials of the high performance butterfly valve seat retainer should be stainless steel or higher class stainless steel such us duplex stainless steel. 

So, what materials of the high performance butterfly valve seat retainers are manufactured often at LAWAI? 

CF3M equivalent to stainless steel 316 is the material of high performance butterfly valve seat retainer we manufacture mainly.  The Mo of CF3M should be higher than 2.75% that is the standard of one of our customers needs. However, not all customers need us to produce the CF3M Min. 2.75% Mo high performance butterfly valve seat retainers.  We manufacture the seat retainers based on individual design and requirements. 

High performance butterfly valve seat retainers should be manufactured by centrifugal casting

The seat retainers are able to be manufactured by forging and centrifugal casting both.  However, centrifugal casting is a more cost-effective method to do the production of high performance butterfly valve seat retainers. 

Why centrifugal casting is better? 

The first advantage is the production of lower quantity is possible. Centrifugal casting is to pour the liquid metal into the mold to do the high speed rotation.  We control the volume of liquid metal before the casting. 

Secondly, centrifugal casting is a quite good way to produce customized seat retainers.  The seat retainers for high performance butterfly valves are the special designs not the spec. products.  Once we have the suitable mold at the foundry, we will be able to do the production.  

Thirdly, saving much cost of raw materials when using centrifugal casting to produce high performance butterfly valve seat retainers. 

Customers do not need to do the extra machining to remove the materials in order to form the hollow type.  Centrifugal casting is the technique to make the hollow products.  

The butterfly valve seat retainers are with strong mechanical properties and fine microstructures.  Considering the durability and quality, centrifugal casting is the best way to manufacture the high performance butterfly valve seat retainers without doubt. 

High class butterfly valves should be assembled by each valuable component. The seat retainers produced by centrifugal casting are irreplaceable parts of the high performance valves exactly!
