    Taiwan HP-modified high temperature tubes and rollers manufactured by centrifugal casting technique


LAWAI was awarded the Casting Fine Work and Technology from Taiwan Foundry Society in 2024 

Our HP-Nb( HP-modified)high temperature rollers was awarded the Casting Fine Work and Technology from Taiwan Foundry Society in 2024. The Taiwan Foundry Society would award two castings every year. This year, we were honored that our HP-Nb(HP-modified) rollers were conferred the award. The dimension of the HP-Nb(HP-modified) roller is with the outer diameter 50 mm and the length 2000 mm. These HP-Nb (HP-modified) high temperature conveyor rollers are applied in steel and heat-treatment plants. 

HP-Nb(HP-modified) is one of the heat-resistant alloys and it is the modification from the alloy HP. Therefore, HP-Nb is called HP-modified. In our blog, we have mentioned alloy HP on several articles. ASTM A297 HP is equal to JIS SCH24 that is used often in Asia. Most customers purchased our alloy HP (JIS SCH24) centrifugally cast tubes as high temperature tubes or conveyor rollers for various applications.

HP-Nb (HP-modified) is the good material for the high temperature tubes and conveyor rollers

HP-Nb(HP-modified) alloy plays an important role in the history of petrochemical industry. The high temperature tubes for furnaces were produced by forging in the early days.  They were 310 forged tubes. Because of the increase of the higher standard demands, the forged 310 tubes were replaced by HK 40 centrifugally cast tubes gradually.    However, there were still short comings of HK 40 centrifugally cast tubes and users were not satisfied with the efficiency and the lifetime of HK 40.  Thus, HP-Nb(HP-modified) high temperature tubes were developed by each centrifugal casting company.  And they were used in different petrochemical plants then. 

HP-Nb(HP-modified)’s carbon content is 0.4~0.5%.  The higher carbon improves the creep resistance.  In addition, the high Nickel of HP-Nb(HP-modified)is able to make the oxidation layers stable and improve the heat fatigue. Therefore, HP-Nb(HP-modofied) is an ideal material for high temperature tubes. 


HP-Nb(HP-modified) is not only the right material for the high temperature tubes but also the vital role in steal and heat-treatment industries especially as the conveyor rollers. 

Under the high temperature environment for a long run, HP-Nb(HP-modified)is able to resist creep, endure the heavy load when conveying. 

The awarded HP-Nb(HP-modified) rollers are the value-added product in the international market because of the small outer diameter ( 50 mm). 

It’s quite difficult to produce small diameter tubes by centrifugal casting technique due to the limitations of the mold and running & feeding system.  Moreover, HP-Nb(HP-modofied) is the medium carbon with high Cr steel. If using extruding method to produce the HP-Nb(HP-modified)tubes, it will not succeed. 

So, centrifugal casting technique is still the mainstream to manufacture the high temperature tubes and rollers for petrochemical, steel and heat-treatment industries nowadays.
